Introducing Prim Voices: The Future of Directable Speech Synthesis

We're thrilled to share some news about our journey in the world of speech synthesis. Back in December, we introduced Prim Stories, an Iphone App designed to help remote families stay connected through AI-powered story reading. While the concept resonated strongly with our community, we faced challenges with existing voice cloning technologies – they weren't meeting our quality standards and proved cost-prohibitive.

Instead of compromising, we decided to take matters into our own hands. Over the past two months, Derek and I have been hard at work, training our own models to revolutionize the speech synthesis space. Today, we're proud to introduce Prim Voices.

What Makes Prim Voices Different?

Prim Voices is not just another speech synthesis company. We're a speech synthesis and voice orchestration platform focused on something unique: directable speech. Our system goes beyond simply converting text to speech – it understands and implements the nuances of how something should be said, not just what needs to be said.

This focus has led to two major breakthroughs:

1. Directable Speech (non-realtime): Our system can generate speech that follows specific directions, similar to how a voice actor would interpret and perform a script.
2. Infinite Voice Design (for realtime use): We can create an unlimited variety of voices using a lightweight model, enabling fast, cost-effective, and consistent speech synthesis (though non-directable for now).
